Story Wisdom - an evening of old and enchanting stories

Selkies are seals that can shape-shift into humans, but there is risk as we enter the deep ocean and shed one skin for another...Will we be able to breathe and see this deep in the dark underworld ocean? What skin will we wear when we return to land, if we ever return at all?

Come and meet some wise and beguiling friends of mine: Old Stories. These folktales and myths are a wondrous bunch and they have warming and wise medicine for our aching hearts and turmoiled world.
In the oral tradition, stories are shared from the heart, not memorised or ‘performed’, and the stories are fresh and different every time they come out to play.
Old stories are deeply symbolic and archetypal, and help us go underneath our habituated way of inhabiting our lives. Some of these stories are wild, cheeky, transformative. You might see your life through a wolf’s eyelash, and this could turn your world upside down and inside out, beckoning you to a deeper story, a deeper life, underneath…

Saturday 13 June
Shared dinner 5.30-6.30pm: Please bring a plate of savoury or sweet food to share (labelled with ingredients to help those with dietary needs)
Stories 6.30-9.00pm, with a short break.
Bring a journal and pen (optional)
We will provide seats and cushions to sit on, beverages and simple art materials to draw and write in response to the stories.
Price is $30. Booking is essential.
This event is for those aged 16+ due to the long quiet focused attention that is needed.
