Meah Velik-Lord

Creative Dance Teacher

Meah, a woman with short brown hair, glasses, and a maroon top smiling against a dark gray background.

Meah is the Artistic Director of Travel Art Dance Company, and has been teaching, choreographing and performing with the group since 2003. She currently runs the company's program of public classes and workshops, teaching classes for adults and children in dance and creative movement, brush and ink, and labyrinth walking practices.

Meah holds a Diploma in Teaching Creative Dance from Mangala Studios of Yoga and Creative Dance, a Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy from Dance Therapy NZ, and is a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator. She has also been training for many years with Anne O'Keeffe (Alchemy Dance Improvisation) and Richard Liddicut (Behold Art), and is currently undertaking an apprenticeship in Mettler-based creative dance through Mettler Studios in Tucson AZ.

Meah's own creative dance journey has been lifelong - beginning as a baby in the mothers-and-babies class at Mangala Studios of Yoga and Creative Dance and never stopping! With a few extra influences from movement improvisation, yoga, partner acrobatics, contemporary dance, sumi-e painting and labyrinth walking along the way, she is delighted to have come full circle to be teaching this special practice.
