Mien Tan
Creative Dance Teacher
Mien is a dance movement and expressive arts psychotherapist and embodiment facilitator. She works with individuals, groups and systems towards embodied restoration and homecoming through reclaiming creative expression and agency. She also teaches and practises creative dance and movement, as well as Argentine tango and yoga.
Mien facilitates creative arts- and movement-based experiences and workshops to explore the stories we carry and unravel possibilities for relating, expression, care and restoration. Her experience includes attachment and developmental wounding, neurodivergence, life, family and relationship transitions, identity, belonging, loss and grief, and the restoration of vitality, feeling and autonomy.
Mien is passionate about exploring the in-between spaces, where creativity, connection, healing and integration happen, as well as how expressive arts therapies, and embodied cultural practices facilitate healing and wellbeing for individuals, communities and systems.
Her approach is trauma-informed, compassionate and collaborative, and is informed and influenced by neuroaesthetics, parts work, trauma-informed somatic practices, psychodynamic and depth psychological perspectives, and the use of active imagination.
